Oral microflora, the diverse community of microorganisms residing in the mouth, plays a crucial role in maintaining oral health. However, imbalance in this microflora can lead to various diseases like periodontitis, dental caries, and oral candidiasis. Probiotics, beneficial bacteria found in certain foods and supplements, offer a promising avenue for restoring oral microbial balance. By introducing beneficial strains like Lactobacillus and Bifidobacterium, probiotics can inhibit the growth of harmful bacteria and promote oral health. Prebiotics, on the other hand, serve as food for these beneficial bacteria, enhancing their growth and activity in the oral environment. Incorporating probiotics and prebiotics into oral care products or dietary supplements presents a natural and effective approach to supporting oral microflora and preventing oral diseases.
