Apart from the basic role of nutrition, which is to provide necessary nutrients for the growth and development of the body, several additional aspects of nutrition are becoming increasingly significant, such as health maintenance and illness prevention. The content and safety of consumable products are given special consideration in the area of highly processed foods. Because of the problem of food poisoning, obesity, allergies, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer—the plague of the twenty-first century—food quality is extremely crucial. Probiotics and prebiotics in human diet have been shown to provide health benefits in scientific studies. Probiotics are defined as "live bacteria that offer health advantages to the host when administered in sufficient amounts." Probiotics, on the other hand, are live microbial feed supplements that benefit the host animal by improving the microbial balance in its intestine. The manipulation of the gut microbiota with probiotics was first utilised to improve the health of both animals and humans.
